Beginner reformer Pilates

This class will teach you the fundamental exercises in a Pilates repertoire. It will also give you a good foundation for exercising on the most popular apparatus: the Pilates reformer.

The workout is certainly not easy and will challenge everybody.

Pilates is a practise, the movements are controlled and challenging with emphasis on posture. There are six basic principles that provide the foundation of Pilates and are key to performing the exercises safely and effectively: centering, control, concentration, breath, flow, and precision. With our small group classes, you will still get the attention you require to learn how to do Pilates with correct technique.

All levels reformer Pilates

Is a fitness-based dynamic Pilates class using the reformers to achieve a comprehensive full-body workout in 45 minutes. It is suitable for all levels of fitness and our instructors will provide modifications and progressions throughout the class to ensure you are getting the most benefit from your workout. Reformer Pilates utilises spring resistance to target core stability, postural control, strength and flexibility.

Our class sizes are kept small, a key difference at eureka Pilates, ensuring you are completing exercises safely and get appropriate feedback on your form.

If you are experienced on the reformer, be sure to let your instructor know and they can give you some challenging variations. If you want a more challenging workout, try our Dynamic reformer class (see below).

Over 55’s reformer Pilates

Our over 55’s Reformer classes are for our more mature clients who are wanting to get a comprehensive full body workout. Our Prenatal physio exercise/Pilates classes help you to remain strong and fit throughout your pregnancy and prepare your body for labour. Exercise during pregnancy may assist with common health complaints such as lower back and pelvic pain, maintaining healthy weight and mobility as well as reducing strain, improving balance and strengthening your pelvic floor.

Classes run for 45 minutes, are led by a physiotherapist and are suitable throughout all stages of your pregnancy, with the focus on strengthening the pelvic floor and deep abdominal muscles using a combination of physio techniques and Pilates informed exercises. These group classes use a variety of equipment including balls, resistance bands and Pilates reformers. A one-to-one physiotherapy assessment is required before commencing this class to assess the pelvic floor and deep abdominal musculature and any other musculoskeletal issues that you may have.

Private Health Insurance rebates are available for this classes taken by a qualified physiotherapist (item code 561).

Postnatal physio exercise/Pilates

Pilates is a particularly great exercise postnatally as much of it can be done lying down, which is important for giving your pelvic floor a rest!

Our Postnatal physio exercise/Pilates classes assist with physical recovery from childbirth and help your body to keep up with the demands of new motherhood. Classes run for 45 minutes, are led by a physiotherapist or qualified Pilates instructor and focus on strengthening the pelvic floor and deep abdominal muscles as well as combatting the postural effects of caring for a newborn using a combination of mat, small equipment and reformer exercises.

A one-to-one postnatal physiotherapy assessment is required before commencing this class to assess the pelvic floor, abdominal muscles and any other musculoskeletal issues that may have arisen during pregnancy and are persisting. We recommend the postnatal assessment be completed and classes commenced at approximately 6 weeks post-delivery. It may be recommended that you attend our Clinical Exercise classes depending on how your body is coping in the post-natal period. We welcome new mums to bring their bubs along (up until they commence crawling) and attend to them as needed throughout the class. You’re welcome to bring your bub in a capsule, pram or just pop them on a mat.

Private Health Insurance rebates are available for this class when taken by a qualified physiotherapist (item code 561).
