BEGINNERS REFORMER PILATES (10 WEEK COURSE)

This class will teach you the fundamental exercises in a Pilates repertoire. It will also give you a good foundation for exercising on the most popular apparatus: the Pilates reformer. The workout is certainly not easy and will challenge everybody. Pilates is a practise, the movements are controlled and challenging with emphasis on posture. There are six basic principles that provide the foundation of Pilates and are key to performing the exercises safely and effectively: centering, control, concentration, breath, flow, and precision. With a maximum of 6 people, you will still get the attention you require to learn how to do Pilates with correct technique.

Reformer Pilates

Is a fitness based dynamic Pilates class using the reformers to achieve a comprehensive full body workout in 45 minutes. It is suitable for all levels of fitness and our instructors will provide modifications and progressions throughout the class to ensure you are getting the most benefit from your work out. Reformer Pilates utilises spring resistance to target core stability, postural control, strength and flexibility. Our class sizes are kept small with a maximum of six participants ensuring you are completing exercises safely and get appropriate feedback on your form. Please note if you have a current injury or condition this class is not suitable for you and you would benefit instead from our Clinical Exercise Classes.

over 55’s reformer pilates

Our over 55’s Reformer classes are for our more mature clients who are still wanting to get a comprehensive full body workout whilst also addressing age related changes in balance, posture and strength. Classes run for 45 minutes and are taken by a qualified instructor using our Pilates reformer with a specific focus on improving balance, coordination, posture, flexibility, bone density and muscle mass. Our class sizes are kept small with a maximum of six participants ensuring you are completing exercises safely and get appropriate feedback while you are exercising. Please note if you have a current injury or condition, this class is not suitable for you and you would benefit instead from our Clinical Exercise Classes.

athletic Reformer Pilates

A fitness based, dynamic Pilates class using the reformers to achieve a full body workout in 45 minutes. Different from our standard reformer Pilates classes, the athletic reformer class is a faster-paced, higher intensity class using the addition of jump boards to add an element of cardio and strength training, testing your physical and mental endurance. This class is suitable for experienced clients who want to take their Pilates practice to a more intense level and push themselves with a challenging athletic workout. Our class sizes are kept small with a maximum of six participants ensuring you are completing exercises safely and get appropriate feedback on your form. Please note if you have a current injury or condition this class is not suitable for you and you would benefit instead from our clinical exercise classes. This class is not suitable for beginners.

STUDIO Pilates

Studio Pilates Programs are tailored to your needs and goals, for both rehabilitation and maintenance of a healthy body. An Initial Consultation is required for a program to be designed for you. You will then join a group of 1-4 people, all working on your own individualised programs with your qualified Pilates instructor. Studio Pilates follows Joseph Pilates principles of Concentration, Centering, Control, Breath, Precision and Flow. You will experience the full range of our Pilates equipment including the reformer, Cadillac/trapeze table, ladder barrel and wunda chair in order to improve your physical strength, flexibility, posture and to enhance mental alertness. 

BOOK INITIAL STUDIO PILATES ASSESSMENT

MUMS AND BUBS Pilates (10 WEEK COURSE)

This course has been carefully designed to progress women confidently throughout their post-natal recovery from natural, assisted and caesarean births. We recommend commencing these classes once you have had your post natal check up with your GP or Obstetrician and have been given the all clear to begin exercise (generally after 6 weeks). This is a full body workout conducted on the Pilates reformer using spring-loaded resistance with a focus on core strength and stabilisation, posture and flexibility. Because the springs are adjustable, this class offers Mums of all levels a safe return to exercise post birth. Your bub may lie on a mat next to you or socialise with other bubs. You can bring in your pram, a baby bouncer, play mat or capsule whatever your bub enjoys. There are many moving parts and trip hazards so this is a non-mobile bub and mum class.

Reformer classes are capped at 6 people so you receive personal attention and guidance from our qualified Instructors.

Individual Pilates Session

Individual Pilates sessions are designed for a highly tailored approach which may be required based upon your presentation and may be recommended prior to attending clinical classes by your physiotherapist. These individual sessions are also ideal for those wanting extra assistance in achieving their personalised health and fitness goals. Individual Pilates sessions run for 30 minutes. Clinical exercise class

Clinical Exercise is designed for anyone with a current injury or health condition and is ideal for rehabilitation, or those wanting to work towards specific goals. Before participating in Clinical Exercise Classes you must have an initial one to one assessment with our physiotherapist. This allows us to understand your condition, which specific areas of imbalance in the body we need to address, and ensures your program is tailored to your specific goals. Class sizes are kept small with a maximum of 4 clients working through their own individualised program at once ensuring you get the feedback and attention you require. Clinical classes run for 45 minutes and programs incorporate a range of exercises using all of the wonderful equipment and space we have on offer in our OASIS studio.

All Clinical Exercise Classes are taken by a Physiotherapist (item code 560) or Exercise Physiologist (item code 502) and are rebatable with Private Health Insurance. Check with your insurer to see how much your rebate is as this varies from fund to fund.

Pre and Postnatal exercise classes

Our Pre and Postnatal Exercise classes help you to remain strong throughout your pregnancy, prepare your body for labour, assist recovery from childbirth and help your body to keep up with the demands of new motherhood. Classes run for 45 minutes and are led by physiotherapists and are suitable throughout all stages of your pregnancy journey, with the focus on strengthening the pelvic floor and deep abdominal muscles using a combination of mat, small equipment and reformer exercises. A one to one Physiotherapy assessment is required before commencing this class to assess the pelvic floor and deep abdominal musculature and any other musculoskeletal issues that may arise during or persist post pregnancy. We recommend the postnatal assessment be completed and classes commenced at approximately 6 weeks post delivery. It may be recommended that you attend our Clinical Exercise classes depending upon how your body is coping throughout pregnancy and in the post-natal period. We welcome new mums to bring their bubs along (up until they commence crawling) and attend to them as needed throughout class.

Private Health Insurance rebates are available for this class as all pre and post natal exercise classes are
taken by a qualified physiotherapist (item code 560).

BOOK INITIAL CLINICAL EXERCISE ASSESSMENT

Initial clinical exercise Assessment (Physio)

An initial assessment with one of our physiotherapists is required for all clients participating in our Clinical Exercise and Pre/Post Natal Exercise classes. This will take 45 minutes in which time we will gain a comprehensive history, assess your posture, range of movement, muscle function and ability to switch on your deep core muscles. This enables us to identify key target areas and work out what specific muscles need to be strengthened or lengthened. We will establish personalised goals to work towards on your exercise journey and develop a specific program to meet your individual needs. Your physiotherapist may also suggest further individual sessions if required prior to attending classes. You are also required to have regular clinical re-assessments (every 12 weeks) to progress your program and ensure you continue to reach your health goals.

Yoga

Gentle Flow

Gentle Flow is designed for beginners through to intermediate students. In Gentle Flow, you’ll be guided through postures in a Hatha style, beginning with the basic poses, but allowing for more challenging poses based on your practice level. Props are encouraged to allow the body to fully achieve each pose comfortably. This is a great class for students looking for a more gentle experience, those who are new to yoga or those who need a change of pace, yet still have the option to take it to the next level.


yoga for athletes

This class is designed with the athlete in mind. A combination of faster paced “flow” style poses to keep you engaged and “working hard” and some longer held poses to really stretch deeply to help improve your mobility. Athletes are generally relatively strong and the saying “strength without mobility, leads to rigidity and stiffness” is so true, and this can predispose to injury. It’s the perfect class to come along with some of your athlete mates and work on the area most frequently neglected in training, your flexibility.
